Community Schools - Day 1-26_edited.jpg

The Community School Strategy

The Six Key Practices

ABC Community School Partnership utilizes the six key practices, established by Community Schools Forward, as the guiding principles for whole-school transformation. Those key practices are as follows:

  1. Powerful student and family engagement

  2. Collaborative leadership, shared power and voice

  3. Expanded and enriched learning opportunities

  4. Rigorous, community-connected classroom instruction

  5. Culture of belonging, safety, and care

  6. Integrated systems of support

Conditions for positive change and transformation are created when all six key practices are implemented in a community school, namely strong, trusting relationships, inclusive decision-making, and a thriving community.
