100% BernCo Mobile & Community Health Event at Van Buren MS
On August 8, the 100% BernCo Medical & Dental Impact Teams coordinated a mobile health unit event for the community at Van Buren Middle School, bringing together over 20 community partners and drawing more than 200 community members to receive a wide variety of services, including health screenings, dental screenings, vision screenings, vaccinations, and sports physicals. Attendees also had access to additional services and resources, including information on Medicaid and Turquoise Care, McKinney-Vento services, Locker 505 referrals, financial planning, mental wellness, and school gardens, along with free giveaways and swag. This event was a true showcase of the mission of 100% Bernalillo — partners working together to expand and improve the access of vital services to anyone who calls Bernalillo County home.
This event would not have been possible without the help of the team at Van Buren, and we are especially thankful to Amanda Sanchez, Community School Impact Coordinator, for her coordination at the school site to ensure a smooth event!

Wilson & Whittier Safe Routes to School Featured in PBS Episode
In August, New Mexico In Focus, a publication of PBS, aired its episode on pedestrian safety in Albuquerque, as Albuquerque continues to rank one of the most dangerous metropolitan areas for pedestrians in the nation. The episode explores the city's new 'Sidewalk Law' in a thoughtful discourse and features the Safe Routes to School initiative at Whittier Elementary and Wilson Middle School. September 8 11am-12pm | 100% BernCo Community School Impact Team Meeting ABC Offices (2400 Wellesley Ave., 87107) | Virtual option available The next CSIT meeting will be a hands-on working session focused on expanding the CSIT asset map. The team will identify and connect employers to the different categories and community priorities represented in the map. To help make the time productive, please bring a list of employers or business contacts that you believe could be valuable partners and resources. These lists will be used to strengthen mapping efforts and identify opportunities for collaboration. |
